Is the plumbing broken on this blog, too?

Monday, January 27, 2003

wow, I'm such a dork! You know the craziness that pursued when I got Windows Media Player 9? Well, an enabler of mine gave me a copy of this sound editor thing. Sure, I have actual useful things I want to do with it, but not right now! I'm too busy changing the genders of the singers and playing with the speed and distortion!!! So much to do and so little time (not to mention the fact that the program takes forever and a day to do any operations)!

And guess what I found out? My favorite 30 seconds of music sounds *way too fucking super cool* backwards. Seriously, someone should take the music, make it backwards and write new words! I need to figure it out for myself so I can put it as an annoying-yet-totally-un-i-que cell phone ring!

Hey, is it really 11:20? Shit! Must get to bed!
why is it that everytime i want to post a link blogger fucks w/ me? i dunno. let's see if this works any better this time. just cut and paste this url into your browser thingy: http://maddox.xmission.com/limits_to_freedom.html. hilarious. let's hope it works this time...
ok, austin's post reminded me of this... first of all, this page is absolutely hilarious. a must read. definitely go for the hate mail page. you'll find it well worth your time. and....oh yeah, the reason i blogged in the first place: GO HERE. i love it. alrighty then...dbq for ap euro waiting, so i'm out.

Also: New GYWO!

EDIT: it's a little heavy on systematic rape, though. Jeepers!
I soooooo don't want to go to school. Like the entire rest of our senior class, I had a *wonderful* break and have done a big nothing of work! Well, I did have my design school interview and getting my portfolio together was a big chore, but that's different! I now have *mass* amounts of crap to do!

*whine*

But I don't *want* to go to school!

On a side note, I have noticed I know nothing about football. I have a vague idea what is going on, but am frequently baffled by it. However, what a great matchup! My friend Kiko and I think the whole thing should be pirate themed. You know, make the cheerleaders have eye patches, peg legs and hooks; have the refs dress up as ship captains and such nonsense. Best of all, though, would be the commentators...they would have to speak in pirate-talk!

"Ahoy, matey! Thar be a fumble at the starboard side!"

It would be...classic. Certainly a football game I would watch.

You're making t-shirts... for a blog?

Puzzled, frightened.
Tentative shirt designs:

Front
Back

I think the colors we be kind of a light blue with navy writing, but that's just my idea. I am going to make the curly writing more readable and still have to revamp some of the art, yadda yadda yadda. The design isn't final.

The response so far has been very positive. I have more then 12 people already who say that they will get a shirt, so yay for that.

Also, you need to think of a good fake nickname for the back. I.E. Peter "Mrs. Reilly Dunn" Libero
BTW, if any of you would like to IM me, my SN is swankydustin.

Continue on Fox Rd., passing a church on the left, several subdivisions, some houses, forest, and new construction on both sides, Fox Rd. Elementary on the left, and finally, Fox Haven neighborhood, also on the left. Immediately after Fox Haven is my neighborhood, FOX DEN. Turn left here onto Beaverwood Dr., and continue, passing Havenwood Dr. on the right. My house is grey with black shutters, white trim, and greenish doors. Park in my driveway if you arrive early, or anywhere along the street that you can find space. But DO NOT park on my lawn, as there is a sprinkler system buried there that cannot be crushed!

Hope you can make it!

Here's the deal with t shirts, comrades: my mom says we need a minimum of 12 shirts and the cost will be $154 for the lot. If we want more then one color of ink, add 25$ to that for each color over one printed. I think that sounds reasonable, don't y'all think?

Also: holy fucking shit, we have Bagel Bites in the house!!! *orgasm*

JDSwany2000: but do you still think i'm a psycho path?
Luolian007: well, I dunno, you couldn't spell the city you lived in for 10 years,
Luolian007: that doesn't bode well for ya

Luolian007: I'm 95% female
JDSwany2000: was it your choise, or at birth?

I never did get to say if it was my "choise" or not because after that he blocked me. Feel free to hassle him if you are bored one day.

Special thanks to Peter for not closing the window and to Reilly for his oh-so-sex-i-licious picture. YOUR making me hot, really.

How Windows Media Player has fucked my up for life

Yeah, yeah, Media Player sucks, yadda yadda...Well, I've never had any problems with the XP version, while I have always had problems with Winamp so I don't use it. Anyway, I downloaded Media Player 9 today and there are a few new features, one of which allows you to adjust the speed of the song without changing the pitch (though it does make the song have worse quality) and *wow* pretty much ALL SONGS EVER MADE sound much better 100% faster. Serious, songs now are TOO SLOW. What am I, an snail? No! I am a human being!!!! I know I'm a freak, but I can't help it. So I'm sitting here listening to on my music hyper fast and then I switch back to normal for a second....

You ever see that X Files ep where the kids go in the cave thing and it makes the able to go real fast? And you know how everything seems really slow to them afterwards? That is so me right now. I'm wired. Everything is happening to slow now!!!! I'm spazzing out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! aHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK, my birthday is the 15th of Feb. I'm going to have a party at my house, but I'm not sure when to have it. I can't do it on the 15th, but the 14th will probably be OK (even though I won't then be able to see DD on opening night). Or I could wait a weekend or two. I want to have as many people available to come as possible. What day would be OK for you guys? Sophomore year, I invited 15-20 to my party but ended up having only 8 able to come.

What started out as a great day with the 2-hour delay, which let me get a full amount of sleep so I was able to be wide-awake in class, turned out to be kind of a bummer because in second period I learned I got shafted once again by the Scholastics judges. Fuck them and their ignorance of snow! :( Oh well, there's still Women's Club (which I got 1st for city last year, and 3rd for district), Artsplosure, and the Art Museum show. But congrats to Lauren.

It's snowing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I heard a rumor KISS might be doing a joint tour with Aerosmith this summer. That would rock and roll all nite. :D
Edwards the Smart Choice for the Nomination

I've been rethinking my support for John Kerry, who has been relatively quite for some reason. I like the guy but he hasn't been very vocal.

Beer Philosophy 101]
A philosophy professor stood before his class and had some
items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly he
picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded
to fill it with rocks about 2" in diameter. He then asked the
students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them
into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course,
rolled into the open areas between the rocks. He asked the students
again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.
The professor picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.
Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He then asked once
more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous
yes.
The professor then produced two cans of beer from under the table
and proceeded to pour their entire contents into the jar - effectively
filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.
"Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided, "I want
you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The rocks
are the important things - your family, your partner, your health,
your children -- things, that if everything else was lost and only
they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the
other things that matter like your job, your house, your car.
The sand is everything else. The small stuff. "If you put the sand
into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles
or the rocks. The same goes for your life. If you spend all your time
and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the
things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that
are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time
to get medical checkups. Take your partner out dancing.
There will always be time to go to work, clean the house, give a
dinner party and fix the disposal. "Take care of the rocks first --
the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just
sand."
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the beer
represented. The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked.
It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may
seem, there's always room for a couple of beers!"

HOLLA. Kind of a shady dude, apparently, and a Republican, but he's got balls and now, at least, they're in the right place. Get off on your bad self.
30 days til the Daredevil movie comes out. (Which means only 31 days til my 18th birthday.)
107 days til X-Men 2.
154 days til the Hulk movie.

This countdown will make the waiting so much more painful but the payoff will be so much sweeter!

Saturday, January 11, 2003

So my mom made chili last night and this morning she tells us she made it out of buffalo. Buffalo chili. No, seriously. She said it was really cheap so she was going to try it. It tasted pretty much like beef, but the chili was extra good. Maybe it was the buffalo.

A Message From Senator Edwards
(Read the message that begins about halfway down.)

Well, bravo! Gutsy to mention Clinton in the same paragraph as JFK and LBJ. Maybe there is something behind "champion for regular people."

Rep. Rangel Proposes Reinstatement of Draft

So this is what Austin was talking about below. Pretty clever, I must say, even though I'd rather not be called into service. Great way to send a message to Congress and the President, even though few news outlets seem to be reporting this.

School bad! Bad school!
Hold on, everyone, no need to worry. All our democratic party needs have just been met: Rev. Al is running for president.

A quick update from me:

I *loved* NY. I want to move there. I would so apply to NYU if I had time, but I don't. Oh well, not a big deal. The Chelsea was fabulous! The first room we stayed in was the room that was used for a Polaroid commercial (a guy keeps taking pictures and slipping them under a blue door to a girl and she rips them up. Seen it?) and then we got moved to the room that guy stayed in while he wrote 2001 Space Odyssey. So yay, exciting. I did much shopping. Among other things I got my prom dress as well as my winter formal (which was a total score at $26!). We couldn't get in to Times Square or anywhere near it for New Years. I didn't know it, but they had a police block from 34th to Central Park and going all the way from 6th to 8th avenue and unless you got there before Broadway filled up you were screwed. Since the block was so wide we couldn't even see the crowd. We ended up walking around it with a million other people and got back to the Chelsea at 11:30 and watched it on TV just like all you normal people. Oh well. At least I could hear the noise.

Tomas left yesterday. It's very strange being alone for the first time in two weeks. It's like I have been living another life this whole time. And while we totally didn't get tired of each other at all, I couldn't do any work at all. And now that I think about it, I couldn't sleep either. It was amazing while he was here and sad when he left, but I guess that just means it was a good trip. He'll be up here for prom, so I'll have to wait until then to see him again. Hope I can last, though what is my alternative?
